Any review visit
The month-one check after starting hormones, a test-of-cure, a quarterly PrEP review. Booked only when you and your doctor agree it earns its place, and paid on the day.
Everything else is arithmetic: the couples check bundles two first visits into R1200, and advanced treatments are quoted in writing at the eligibility consult. A typical screening panel at the blood lab runs [LANCET_PANEL_RANGE_PLACEHOLDER], billed by Lancet directly and usually claimable from medical aid.
Testing services often sell screens as per-test menus with prices on request. Ours work the other way: one fee for the medicine around the test, printed here.

Every package above excludes blood lab fees, billed by Lancet directly, and consumables such as vaccines, billed at cost. Both are told to you before anything is ordered, and most patients claim both back from medical aid.
Every visit is paid upfront by cash or card at the practice.
You receive a detailed invoice after each visit. You submit it to your own medical aid and the scheme reimburses you directly, subject to your plan.
PVT does not bill medical schemes directly for this service. That keeps your visit off shared family statements until you choose to claim.
Lab tests are done through Lancet and paid to Lancet directly. Consumables, such as vaccines or injectable medication, are billed separately at cost.

Some testing services charge per test, with no doctor in the room and no script at the end. Here the fee buys the medicine around the test: the assessment, the interpretation and the treatment plan.

The couples check, in numbers
Two separate consults would cost R1300. The couples check is R1200 for both partners in the same visit, and it adds what two separate visits cannot: an agreed frame for what is shared, and counselling together if your results differ.
PrEP, year one
R650 + 3 to 4 reviews at R450
Start with baseline testing, then quarterly reviews, which is the clinically required rhythm. Roughly R2,000 in consult fees across the year, plus the medication and lab tests at cost.
TRT, year one
R650 + R450, then R450 reviews
Initiation with morning bloods and a safety baseline, the month-one review, then scheduled monitoring. Roughly R2,000 in consult fees in a typical first year.
HRT, year one
R650 + R450, then R450 reviews
Assessment, the month-one symptom and dose review, then an annual rhythm once stable. Most women settle at two to three visits a year.
These are worked examples at current fees, not quotes. Your doctor sets the review rhythm with you, and we remind you when a recheck is due rather than booking anything without your say-so.
Practice name, standard consultation code, amount. Notice what is missing: the word PVT, and any mention of why you came. Whether this invoice ever reaches your medical aid is your decision, because you submit the claim yourself.

No. Plenty of our patients have no medical aid at all. The price you see is the whole price, paid by cash or card, plus the blood lab's own bill for any tests your doctor orders. There is nothing on account and nothing hidden.
The invoice is issued by Dr D Moodley Inc, a general medical practice, with standard consultation codes. Nothing on it names PVT or describes the visit as sexual health screening. If you choose not to claim, nothing reaches your scheme at all.
No. The follow-up package is billed per visit: R650 at the first visit and R450 at the follow-up about a month later. You only ever pay for the visit you are attending, and the follow-up is optional.
The doctor's time and judgement: a private 30-minute assessment, selection of the right tests, a full explanation of your first results once they return, and a script where clinically appropriate. The laboratory's own testing fees are separate and billed by Lancet.
Blood and swab samples are processed by Lancet Laboratories, an independent pathology group. Lancet bills you directly for the tests your doctor orders, usually claimable from medical aid. Your consult fee at PVT covers the doctor's time, not the lab work.
